St. Elizabeth Catholic Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Please follow this link to access our Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures.

Pupil Premium

Central government gives funding for schools to support pupils from deprived backgrounds. This funding is called the 'Pupil Premium'. It is designed to close the gap in learning and achievement for those children from less advantaged backgrounds. At St Elizabeth, we are committed to ensuring excellence for all pupils. This year, our pupil premium is being used in the following ways:

  • Numbers Count - supporting early mathematical skills acquisition
  • Support for access to extra curricular activities
  • Booster classes in English and Mathematics
  • Musical instrument tuition

Music

At St Elizabeth we are committed to the provision of a varied, stimulating music curriculum, offering children a wide range of instrumental teaching.  We hope through this to offer children an enhanced cultural experience.

Children in Year 1 learn African drumming, developing skills in rhythm and dynamics.  Year 2 learn the violin and Year 3 learn cello.  Year 4 participate in a project with the Guildhall School of Music involving vocal and instrumental composition working as individuals and groups. In years 5 the focus is on the recorder and musical notation. Year 6 study electric guitar and composition and performance using ICT.  All this provision goes hand in hand with the National Curriculum programme for music in EYFS, KS1 and KS2  this is all provided by specialist music teachers.

Sports

St Elizabeth School participates fully and successfully in a wide range of sporting activities.  Our PE co-ordinator works closely with Tower Hamlets to ensure that at St Elizabeth we offer excellent sporting opportunities for our children.  We are committed to contributing to a healthy active community for the future and encourage our pupils to develop their skills in a wide range of sporting and athletic activities.  These in include Multi-Sports with Years 1 and 2,football with Year 2, table tennis with year 3, athletics and swimming with Year 4, cricket, fencing, hockey and swimming with Year 5 and cricket, volleyball and judo with Year 6.  Teams from St Elizabeth School compete at a high level in borough, London and in some cases, national events.

The cross country teams and football teams as well as the athletics teams are consistently very successful.
